Not clean, not yet dirty clothes

Found this webpage today where someone brought up a problem that I’ve never really found a good solution to.

I don’t normally wash my clothes after each wearing. I’m lazy/cheap and I hate wastefulness. But I also don’t like to fold them up and put them back in the drawer, because even a little smell or dust will negatively effect the surrounding clean clothes. Both my boyfriend and I do this, and we do not have a good place to put these limbo clothes in our apartment. Where/how do we store our not clean, not dirty clothes?

I currently utilize the “stack no top of drawer thingy” method as shown and its not really working out all that well. Since I’ll be moving soon, I don’t foresee myself coming up with a better solution until I find a new place, but hopefully some of these ideas might help.

  • Valet Stand - Classy, but a bit expensive and takes up a lot of space, don’t think this will work for me.
  • Towel Rail Stand - Also pretty nice, but I don’t think it would work with the lack of space my next place will probably have.
  • Wicker Basket - This is probably my best bet. Do I fold the clothes and put them in the basket? Just throwing them on top of each other seems like I’m just giving up on them.

Hopefully with my new place I can find a home for my in limbo clothing. Until then, it will have to wait on top of my plastic drawer thingy until I get tired of it and wash it or spill Thai food on it. Any suggestions?

Optimally, I would tend to hang up this class of clothing but I do have a huge closet that allows me to do so. My thinking is that hanging the clothes prevents in-heap wrinkling, lets them air to preserve freshness, and separates them from other clean clothes.

In reality, I often employ the heap and draw from its riches as necessary.
