The rules of the road in Los Angeles

Found this cool article in the LA Daily News (via Curbed LA). It’s about the unwritten rules of the road in Los Angeles and its pretty spot on except for the fact that it mentions being shot far too often. My favorite quote:

If you’re waiting behind cars in a left-turn lane, never expect to go when the arrow turns green.

The first driver in line will almost always be distracted and fail to notice that the precious green arrow is lighted until the last few seconds before it again turns red.

Only because it is soooooooo true in this city. Either people aren’t used to green arrows since they’re so rare in LA, or they are really just that distracted at all time. Another good one:

Morning rush hour is from 5 a.m. to noon. Evening rush hour is from noon to 7 p.m. Friday’s rush hour starts Thursday morning.

I’ll definitely be forwarding this article along to friends when they visit LA and plan on venturing onto the road. Read the rest of the article for some other great unwritten rules.

I do not miss Los Angeles driving, not that Seattle transportation is perfect.

I am really digging your photographs, Dave. Did you take the one in this post? Give me the story on it: location, ISO, aperture, exposure time, etc.

Yeah, I took that picture about a year ago. Its the taken from Sunset looking down at the 110 just North of Downtown LA. You can see the original here: http://tinyurl.com/2lnrgw

It’s a 15 second exposure at f/7.1 My best guess is ISO 100 or 200 but apparently my camera doesn’t save that info.
